Our Story
Camp Specialists’ story begins the way so many stories do: with a mom who needed advice.
In 1992, Camp Specialists became official.
Arlene founded Camp Specialists to provide free, personalized camp placement guidance to families facing that big question: Where should we send our children to camp?
Over the years, the camp advisory service grew. What began in the living room of her Greenwich Village apartment led to a team of Independent Camp Specialists working within their local communities to help parents with the ever-more-complex task of finding the right sleepaway camp or summer program.
As camp options exploded, Camp Specialists worked overtime to build relationships with camp directors, visit camps, and seek out new and unique experiences in overnight camping and teen programs.
Arlene now works alongside Chief Operating Officer Stacy Fleischman and Chief Administrative Officer Stacy Blicht to ensure each family receives the same level of caring, personalized service that Camp Specialists has been providing since day one.
Led by three women across three generations, our leadership team brings a unique blend of perspectives to our 60 camp specialists. Together, Arlene, Stacy, and Stacy combine modern insights with time-tested experience to help you make the absolute best choice for your child’s happiness.
Together, our team has decades of experience in the camp world. Not just as camp advisors, but as members of the summer camp community. We’ve been there as parents, campers, counselors, and senior leadership staff. We live and breathe camp, we love sharing our insights and answering your questions, and nothing makes us happier than hearing from a satisfied camper.
